If a user notices that the computer is "crazy" and that some applications suspiciously deviate from the usual functionality, panic breaks out, because caught a Trojan horse, virus or worm through phishing, spyware or pharming? What specifically needs to be done to protect against malware, Trojans, and viruses? The first rule when removing trojans: stay calm, don't despair, and keep your nerve. You can do that:
1. Find out more about Trojan Info in the Current Threats section or about similar error
messages on the web. This will help you isolate the
problem, cause, and troubleshooting steps. The information channel could
be the “healthy smartphone” or a second computer.
2. If you are infected and have a virus scanner, install an
update. If you do not have virus protection, set up an antivirus program via
download or installation from CD, and if necessary free virus protection.
3. Then you better turn off your WLAN. Disconnect
your network access from the router so that you do not continue to communicate
with malicious sources on the Internet without your knowledge.
4. Back up your data on removable media (external hard drive, USB,
DVD, etc.). This ensures that the data records are backed up if
further troubleshooting leads to the computer no longer starting up. Then
scan the removable disk for viruses, otherwise the "healthy drive"
maybe infected with the new malware.
5. Restart the computer and start the diagnosis and complete
system check with another free antivirus program.
Remove Trojans with Free Virus Protection Programs (including Test
Programs)
· Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition
·
Kaspersky Antivirus30-day trial version
·
Microsoft Security Essentials
Tip: Always run only ONE antivirus program, otherwise the programs will block each other! Read what else you need to consider with free virus protection!
6. If the virus scanner reports a threat, the treatment
should start.
The program usually suggests either ...
...
isolating the Trojan (quarantine). As a result, the supposed
malware cannot cause any more damage and you can analyze the file in peace. This
can be important, especially if a system-critical file should be affected and
you should continue to search for current threats and possible solutions here
on Trojan Info or on other forums. If you know who the intruder is, you
may be able to restore the file in the event of a false positive or otherwise
permanently remove it.
… to clean. The anti-malware program
eliminates the malicious code and the data is retained. Risk: the infected
file can be damaged when cleaning and may no longer be usable. Better:
make a backup copy of this file in advance.
.... to remove. Important: If a malware
infection has infected a system-critical file or an important program, the
malware should first be isolated. If the virus treatment is successful,
the therapy can be carried out until all pests have been identified.
Trojans Removal Failed? No
Solution Found? One Final Tip!
If you have no idea how to remove the Trojan,
a live virus scanner can help. Install Total Security to analyze the
damage or suspicious. You will receive a
clear indication of whether or not there is an infection and which manufacturer
has solutions for it.
Last Exit: If no solution is found
here either, the application is out of action despite the use of the antivirus
software or the computer no longer starts up, you only have the option of
eliminating the infection by reinstalling Windows after a previous data backup. A
helpful alternative to starting the computer is the "safe mode"
method. In most cases, this leads to success. Should this also fail,
there is still no reason to lose your nerve? For example, there is also
the option of starting the computer from the USB stick.
